Two days in Accra

Howdy folks. Accra, the capital and largest city in Ghana, is incredible. British Airways lost our luggage so our first few days are, to my pure delight, all about hustle and bustle. Accra lies within the tropical region of the world and is very, very humid. However, we have been told that we are lucky because at this time of year Ghana is very cool.

Accra is also incredibly safe. So safe, in fact, that if I had to choose between being lost at night in downtown Accra or downtown Sacramento, I would choose Accra, hands down. The people here are very polite, and my only complaint is that I don't know which foods I can and cannot eat. The food that some of the street vendors cook smells GOOD!

As a summary, we've mostly been doing a lot of walking and sight-seeing. We have checked out the Ghanain Cultural Centre, which boasts a very old world feel and has alot of clothes, drums and jewelry. We saw the Ghanain equivalent of the People's Great Hall, which was cool to see. It's this wide open space...nevermind, I can't possibly explain it to you in words.

That's all I have tio say right now, but you should be getting some pictures soon, then you can check out the People's Hall and other assorted goodies. I can't get over how beautiful this city is. It's not for everyone, mind you, but for like-minded people (i.e. no snobs and pro-slob) it's absolutely wonderful.

peace.
