Barack Obama: Right-wing Conservative and Defender of the Corporate State...?

I have just read the most fascinating article here. It delves into the origins of libertarianism and elucidates its leftist roots, and highlights Conservatism's (both the Democratic and Republican parties belong in this camp) authoritarian history. The article, written by Murray Rothbard, traces the origins of the Corporate State in America to the Progressive collectivism embraced by the nation's elites and intellectuals at the turn of the 20th century. State-created monopolies, imperialism and the proto-fascist origins of Progressive and Conservative (I guess these guys pretty much share the same philosophy, huh?) leaders are all discussed in the article. Highly recommended!

In other news, Anna has headed home for the weekend, leaving me to my homework. Bummer!

Also, I got an e-mail from Tacy the other day, and she seems to be doing really well. When Michael gets back from France, I am going to give him a copy of Bastiat's (one of France's greatest intellectuals) The Law for a coming home present. I hope he enjoys it!

busybusybusy....

I've been extremely busy as of late, but here is some Rothbard for everybody in the mean time. He serves up a healthy dose of little-known, and hence, very important American history. Dr. Rothbard was a true enemy of the state and the ultimate bad ass of the 1950's-90's (in my humble opinion).

Catch y'all later!
